I trust that everyone enjoyed their Valentine’s, Gal-entine’s or Pal-entines day/weekend. Whether you were spending it with your past gal pals or the love of your life I hope you had an amazing time.
Valentine’s Day is one of those special nights that many restaurants go all out for. They usually offer a special menu, a rose for the ladies, or some sort of special ambiance to draw a swooning couple in… Don’t worry there was nothing over the top or cliché about the local restaurants we went to.
What was your favorite part about Valentine’s Day or what did you like or not like about the restaurant you went to?? Please share.
Here is my weekend in review:
I was lucky enough to wake up to a snow day on Friday so I was extremely happy that my weekend could start early!!!
I was blissfully surprised when I walked downstairs to the table set and a beautiful brunch waiting for me! The Hubs sure knows how to treat his lady right! 🙂
He had mimosas, chocolate covered strawberries, and white roses (my favorite) set out on the table! He dazzled me with my favorite Eggs Benedict and hash browns with onions and peppers! So good! I think I may keep him
Valentines night, we decided to keep it low key… but we did go to one of our favorite bars. Newberry’s Yard of Ale. The hubs had been patiently waiting and craving their newest beer on tap and a very scrumptious beer we have been on the hunt to find for many months. Finally, Duclaw Sweet Baby Jesus beer is on tap at Newberry’s Yard of Ale! This beer is lightly sweet and Jesus it’s insanely tasty! After your first sip, you will definitely want to EXCLAIM its NAME!!! Sweet Baby Jesus!!! It is a dark, rich, chocolate peanut butter porter that finishes smooth with hints of espresso, peanut butter, and roasty notes of chocolate. AMAZING!
We sat at the bar and got one of the many friendly and talented bartenders. We ordered off of their special Valentines Lovers Menu and listened to the smooth and soulful vocals of musician Regina Sayles. Check out her website to see where she is playing next in the area and to hear how talented she is! You can also check out a feature article on Regina Sayles through Local Flair Magazine online. Local Flair Magazine is a premier lifestyle magazine of the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. Check out Local Flairs website to see all the happening in our area by clicking here!
There was a great crowd and an awesome atmosphere. I went with three blackened to perfection Jumbo sea scallops over arugula, wild mushrooms, and grilled asparagus.
For desert we ordered chocolate cream stuffed zeppolis and a traditional Irish coffee that was made with homemade whip cream. The fresh and fluffy cream was whipped up by our very talented bartender Gary. It was a perfect way to end the night!
Until Next Time,

Last week the Hubs and I got in the car to drive down to Ocean City Maryland for a beautiful beach themed wedding. Since we were traveling we decided to make it a mini vacation. We spent a couple days in OCMD and it just so happened we were there for the DewTour this extreme sports tour has everything from BMX’ing to surfing and is sponsored by Mountain Dew. It was a lot of fun to watch the athletes compete and do some amazing tricks! We also, had some great 11:00 am cocktails at
hey don’t judge we were on vacation! Shenanigan’s Irish Pub & Grille as we people watched on the boardwalk and listened to the waves hit the shore.
After being a beach bum in Ocean City, MD. We took a short drive to Assateague Island, Maryland. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE everything about Assateague, and as a little girl we had plenty of vacations to Chincoteague Island in Virginia. Love, love, LOVE that place. While we were there I was on a mission to spot the wild ponies!!! They are so beautiful and it is amazing to see! I definitely recommend this vacation/sightseeing spot!
After, I got to see the wild ponies, we jumped back into the car and started to make the trip to Delawares, Dewey Beach. We hit the beach for the day and enjoyed the sun, sand, and fresh salty air, and then at night we hit up The Rusty Rudder for some dancing and drinks! We had a great time, and it just so happened that we had some friends vacationing there at the same time so we all got to enjoy each others company!
The next day, and to end our mini vacation before heading home we decided to head to the Cape May- Lewes Ferry and take a trip into Cape May for lunch to eat at one of my favorite places… The Lobster House, at Fisherman’s Wharf at Cape May Harbor!! 🙂 Oh My GOODNESS! The food there is ALWAYS amazing and delicious!
We started out with some warm homemade everything bread with butter. Then for an appetizer we ordered the fried calamari. Next, the Hubs ordered the broiled sea scallops and I had the broiled soft-shell crab. Both the scallops and crab were broiled in a lemon, garlic, parsley butter sauce and they were OUT OF THIS WORLD DELISH!
We had such a great time just driving and winging this mini vacation. We had no plans or agenda, we just relaxed and rolled with the flow and had an amazing time and a mini adventure!
Until next time,

Tonight the Hubs and I went to Newberry’s Yards of Ale located on Main Street in Stroudsburg to meet up for Happy Hour with the Pocono’s Young Professionals Group. There was a nice show of people from engineers to financial advisors to teachers and nurses and everything in between!! It was nice to meet new people and mingle with others at this Irish pub inspired bar that offers a wide variety of micro brews and craft beers (many on the more hoppy end). Tonight I opted for a crisp glass or 2 of Pinot Grigio. Delish!
After mingling and talking to other fellow fur parents. (Yes, we showed pictures and videos of our fur babies and are planning on a doggy play date… Don’t judge!)
okay who am I kidding, judge away- ain’t nobody got time for that!
We decided to take a look at the menu and order some dinner.
I went with the grilled chicken salad with bacon, avocado, and gouda. The Hubs went with a BBQ chicken and bacon personalized pizza. Both were scrumptious!
We had a lot of fun. Too bad there wasn’t a ping pong table or we would have been there forever!
I love how Yards of Ale has an outside dinning space and an open airy feeling with the wall to ceiling sliding glass doors.
Good night and until next time

Last week the Hubs and I went out for an early happy hour tour. We decided to cut our bar hoping adventures short after having a delicious french onion soup and a Guinness at a local Irish Pub. Instead we decided to enjoy the beautiful weather and sights that downtown Main Street has to offer. Come along for the tour!
It is so nice to explore what your own small town or big city has going on! Now that summer is around the corner I can’t wait for all the food, music, and craft festivals and activities that our community has to offer! 🙂
Until next time,

Last weekend the hubs and I ran around with our capes because we were SUPER AUNT and SUPER UNCLE. We drove hours and were the cheering section for my nieces Cheer Nationals Competition and my nephews District Swim meet!!! Those kiddos seriously ROCK! We decided to make it a whole weekend for us. So we spent Friday night in downtown Harrisburg and stayed at the Hilton, and on Saturday night we stayed with some friends in their BEAUTIFUL new home!!!
Friday afternoon we drove to Harrisburg early so we could make it out for happy hour and bar hop around our State’s Capitol… no pictures in front of monuments or the Capitol building for us… It was all about the FOOD and BEER photo-opts!
First we got a couple drinks at the Bar in the Hilton and pre-gamed with some delicious homemade fried bacon and mac and cheese balls. (sorry no pics. the hubs inhaled them). Next we decided to check out a new bar called The Susquehanna Ale House. A bar that is all about the beer and offers 70 craft beers!!! I had a Rouge Ale from Newport , OR called Hazelnut Brown Nectar Ale with 6.2% alcohol… which was an amazing dark beer with a hazelnut aroma and a smooth nutty flavor! LOVED IT!!! My next brew I decided to go with another dark beer that I never had before from Troegs Brewing Co, PA called Javahead Stout with 7.5% alcohol. This was amazing! I mean how can you go wrong with COFFEE and BEER!?! The Javahead Stout has a lush flavor of cocoa and coffee flavors. A MUST TRY!!! Also at the Ale House we made friends with a couple from Texas who had their dog Mara in the Bar… and no Dad, he wasn’t the BARKTENDER!!
After trying some delicious beers I wanted to fill my belly with some good ol’ bar food. We then headed to AROOGA’s. The hubs and I decided to try some other beers we never had before… Arooga’s offers a “Kick the Keg” special and has $2.00 beers until the keg is empty. So we had to go with that bargain. The “kick the keg” special was a Nugget Nectar that was very hoppy, definitely woke up my tatse buds! But my FAVORITE find was a beer from DUCLAW called Sweet Baby Jesus which is a chocolate peanut butter stout! It was a dark rich beer that had a strong peanut butter aroma and tasted just like peanut butter and chocolate… a match made in heaven! 🙂
On top of all this amazing beer testing… we decided to go all out with a slider sampler with loaded fries… finger lick’n goodness!!
I think I am still recovering from all the running around, driving, and eating this weekend!
Until next time,
Last week, the Man and I met up with a friend to sit at the bar at Maritas Cantina located off of Main Street in Stroudsburg. We decided to order a few drinks and catch up with our friend over some warm crispy tortilla chips and freshly made salsas. (MY FAVORITE!!!- In our house chips and salsa is a STAPLE food supply and sometimes a meal! LOL) The drinks were cold and strong…
just what I needed after a busy day at work.
The food at Marita’s is always good and I love how you get an endless amount of chips and salsa while you are there. (Like I said, I often can make that a meal!) I also love how reasonably priced their menu is. My burrito cost me a whopping $6.95!!! You can’t beat that price at a chain like Moe’s or Holy Guacamole… the service is usually decent, my only downer is the atmosphere isn’t reminiscent of what a Mexican restaurant should be… I actually miss the decor of what the OLD Marita’s Cantina looked like.
With that said, Marita’s is actually one of those go to restaurants that the Hubs and I frequent often… I would definitely recommend it to someone who is looking for some savory and spicy food and for a good time at the bar. *** Marita’s has $0.50 beer specials on Friday and Saturday nights from 10-2am… come on people you can’t beat that anywhere!!!!!

On Saturday night, the hubs and I went on a double date to a mouthwatering hibachi restaurant called Desaki. Desaki is known to offer a “deliciously dynamic” dinning experience… which it certainly does! Desaki is another great restaurant located close to many Pocono’s attractions. It is located on 611 in Swiftwater and has complimentary shuttle bus service that will travel to and from many area resorts including The Chateau Resort and Mt. Airy Casino! Talk about service and convenience!!!!!:-)
Desaki’s may seem to be a bit pricey when you first glance at the menu, but the food is extraordinary and the “show” that the hibachi chefs put on is so entertaining you almost forget that you are nestled in the Pocono Mountains.
There is so much that Desaki’s offers. I was so happy to find out that they have Bar Specials during the week!!! I will most definitely be dragging the hubs back to check out Desaki’s $0.25 Wednesday Wing specials!!! I feel like a $0.25 wing special is unheard of these days! 🙂 Another awesome feature is you can host your very own event at Desaki, from a girls night out to a sweet 16 to a charity event, all the way to a wedding. Desaki’s Garden Venue will make your dream event a reality!!!
As for my tasti dinning experience went… we were told there was a fifty minute wait… Yes, 5.0.!!!! So we put our party name down and made ourselves comfortable at the bar. 20 minutes later, our buzzer was blinking wildly! Not too bad… I’ll take 20 minutes over 50! By this time I was hungry
enough to eat an elephant!!! I ordered the jumbo sea scallops hibachi dinner, which included edamame, a bowl of traditional Japanese soup, crispy and fresh cut vegetables, fried rice and of course Lo Mein noodles. Everything is prepared in front of you on a giant hibachi cook-top made to order using a unique blend of sauces and spices… like teryaki and garlic! YUMMY!!! ( I am getting so hungry writing the post!)
If you are craving a fun night out and an overall enjoyable dinning experience with flavor check out Desaki’s! There is also some fun events happening at Desaki’s. Tomorrow night, Thursday, February 28th is Ladies Night Out Jewelry Party from 6:30-8:30…which all the proceeds will go to a great cause!!! Check it out at Ladies Night Out

Once a month we try to get together with friends from the Scranton area for dinner and drinks. Last night we all met up at Pocono Brewing Company also known as PBC. It is located on 611 in Swiftwater, PA. It is a great restaurant that has a large beer selection… PBC was actually voted one of America’s Best Beer Bars, by All About Beer Magazine!!! They have over 30 beers on tap and 80+ bottles and what I love about PBC is that they have their own specialty house brews!!!! YUMMY! My favorite is called THE BALL AND CHAIN… 😛 which they were out of last night. 😦 So I opted for the Ithaca Apricot Wheat which is a very smooth easy beer to drink… light and refreshing. Drinking it definitely made me itch for summertime and BBQ’s!
I was so busy enjoying the good company and drinking my 32oz. of summer that I didn’t have time to take many pictures….
