A Table For Two, Please… A blog about food, life and everything in between

Monthly Archives: February 2013

On Saturday night, the hubs and I went on a double date to a mouthwatering hibachi restaurant called Desaki. Desaki is known to offer a “deliciously dynamic” dinning experience… which it certainly does! Desaki is another great restaurant located close to many Pocono’s attractions. It is located on 611 in Swiftwater and has complimentary shuttle bus service that will travel to and from many area resorts including The Chateau Resort and Mt. Airy Casino! Talk about service and convenience!!!!!:-)

Desaki’s may seem to be a bit pricey when you first glance at the menu, but the food is extraordinary and the “show” that the hibachi chefs put on is so entertaining you almost forget that you are nestled in the Pocono Mountains.

There is so much that Desaki’s offers. I was so happy to find out that they have Bar Specials during the week!!! I will most definitely be dragging the hubs back to check out Desaki’s $0.25 Wednesday Wing specials!!! I feel like a $0.25 wing special is unheard of these days! 🙂 Another awesome feature is you can host your very own event at Desaki, from a girls night out to a sweet 16 to a charity event, all the way to a wedding. Desaki’s Garden Venue will make your dream event a reality!!!

As for my tasti dinning experience went… we were told there was a fifty minute wait… Yes, 5.0.!!!! So we put our party name down and made ourselves comfortable at the bar. 20 minutes later, our buzzer was blinking wildly! Not too bad… I’ll take 20 minutes over 50! By this time I was hungry enough to eat an elephant!!! I ordered the jumbo sea scallops hibachi dinner, which included edamame, a bowl of traditional Japanese soup, crispy and fresh cut vegetables, fried rice and of course Lo Mein noodles. Everything is prepared in front of you on a giant hibachi cook-top made to order using a unique blend of sauces and spices… like teryaki and garlic! YUMMY!!! ( I am getting so hungry writing the post!)

Saturday night was spent eating delicious food at Peppe’s Bistro formally known as Peppe’s Ristorante. Peppe’s recently got a face-lift and now offers a casual, fresh and modern atmosphere right here in the Pocono’s. (although I do have to say I miss the charm of the old world Italian style fine-dinning experience.) Peppe’s casual ambiance of having a brick oven pizza bar and a swanky lounge to sip your happy hour cocktails is alluring. What I love about Peppe’s is that you can attend in a casual style of jeans or dressed to the nines and still feel comfortable in the atmosphere.

Peppe’s also has entertainment on Saturday nights from 8-11pm in the Bistro Lounge. So you can order a scrumpious classic marguerite brick oven pizza and a nice big class of wine. Last night Erin McClelland Band was playing everything from Dave Matthews to Phillip Phillips. Check him out! He will be playing at Peppe’s Bistro again on March 15th.

So what was on the menu for me last night:

A nice big glass of Pinot Grigio, followed by my all time favorite zuppa de clams appetizer made in a plum tomato broth with basil and garlic! DELISH! Next up was the arugula salad with grilled steak prepared medium rare…. The house balsamic is to die for, especially when you ask for blue cheese crumbles on top! To round out my night I had an espresso and the molten chocolate lava cake! WOW!!!! Let’s just say I left happy and satisfied! 🙂

Overall, it was an excellent night out!

Once a month we try to get together with friends from the Scranton area for dinner and drinks. Last night we all met up at Pocono Brewing Company also known as PBC. It is located on 611 in Swiftwater, PA. It is a great restaurant that has a large beer selection… PBC was actually voted one of America’s Best Beer Bars, by All About Beer Magazine!!! They have over 30 beers on tap and 80+ bottles and what I love about PBC is that they have their own specialty house brews!!!! YUMMY! My favorite is called THE BALL AND CHAIN… 😛 which they were out of last night. 😦 So I opted for the Ithaca Apricot Wheat which is a very smooth easy beer to drink… light and refreshing. Drinking it definitely made me itch for summertime and BBQ’s!

I was so busy enjoying the good company and drinking my 32oz. of summer that I didn’t have time to take many pictures….

If you are ever in the mood for a good BREW check out PBC it is close to many Pocono attractions like Mt. Airy Casino, Great Wolf Lodge, The Crossings Premium Outlets, and Camelback Ski Mountain.

Last night was spent at The Shawnee Inn at the Pocono’s Quarter Auction in raising support and awareness for GIST Cancers and supporting an awesome charity event headed by my sister called GISTrun4DAD (In honor of MY DAD). You can check out the GISTrun4DAD facebook page and find out what it is all about. If you are interested in donating or are just wondering what the hell is GIST cancer, you can also check out the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center’s site to read more about GIST cancer and donate whatever you can to the cause. **Remember every dollar counts— and no amount is too small!! 🙂

Speaking of donations… last night I am very excited to announce that we raised a grand total of $1,831.61!!!!! 🙂 100% of the money raised last night is going directly to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center!

The Pocono’s Quarter Auction was really a BLAST!!! I went to one last month which raised money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The Pocono’s Quarter Auction is held once a month, and each month they sponsor a different charity. It is amazing to see the local community come together and help give back to amazing people and amazing charities and organizations! Next month, The Pocono’s Quarter Auction is sponsoring the HK Mission- Healing through Kindness.

More about last night… Here is a little review through pictures… Oh and may I happily add… I WON I WON I WON!!!!! I am usually never lucky, but I WON a $25.00 gift certificate to Studebaker’s Restaurant & Lounge!!! Studebaker’s is a delicious restaurant on 611 in Stroudsburg with a menu that has something for every one and a yummy salad bar! The Hub’s and I will definitely put that prize to good use! Can’t wait to let you know how that goes!!! 🙂

Thanks for coming by and checking out this space about yummy food, local dinning, travel and life in general! I hope to post at least once a week about my Hubs and I eating and dinning experiences around the Pocono’s/ tri state area and along our travels and through life’s adventures! While I am not a trained food critic, I am a foodie. I love everything about food… the whole experience of eating a meal and dinning out. It is about the atmosphere, the presentation, how it tastes and most importantly the company you are with! Eating is always a new venture and I will try anything once!

So as I go on and on about mouth watering yumminess, let me leave you with a tantalizing picture of an amazing meal the Hubs and I had on our Minnie-Moon to the Aventura Spa Palace in Riviera Maya Mexico… MANJI!
